United World Colleges

The United World College (UWC) is the only global educational movement which brings together students from all over the world at pre-university level (or tertiary level in the case of one College). Students are selected on merit and live together in an environment designed to foster international understanding, tolerance and peace. For further information about the movement generally you can go to www.uwc.org

The UWC National Committee of Great Britain

The UWC movement depends on a network of over 130 national committees around the world to promote UWC to prospective students in their country, encourage and support applications and select students based on merit and potential to represent their country at UWC colleges and schools.

The UWC National Committee of Great Britain was established in 2002 by graduates of the various UWC colleges and is run by a small team of volunteers. We do not have any paid staff or an office, but we do have administrative support from Atlantic College.

The committee seeks to select the best possible students for all UWC colleges and short courses that represent the diversity (geographic, ethnic, socio-economic, gender) of GB; to increase the opportunities for young people in GB to take part in a UWC experience (for example through summer courses); to nurture an enduring commitment to the UWC ideals in GB and to provide support for current students selected by the committee and their parents in order to maximise their UWC experience.

We are a registered charity and are always in need of support in order to fulfil our objectives. Please contact info@uwcgb.org for further information
